No Marshall at SEC media days

Posted on July 13 2014 by #wah96 in AU thoughts

After Auburn senior (QB) Nick Marshall's citation for possession of marijuana (less than 1 ounce) in Georgia this past Friday coach Gus Malzhan has made a statement in taking Marshall out of Auburn's line up of players attending.

Malzhan is making it known to his players that lapses of judgement will cost you and in this case Auburn's leader on the field will not get his chance to represent his team in Hoover, which is kind of a big deal.

In my opinion this is the right move for Malzhan to make so quickly for two reasons. One, Marshall isn't ready for the media storm that would blanket him in Hoover if he attended, matter of fact his replacement C.J Uzomah probably will not be prepared for all of the Marshall questions coming his way. Two, it wouldn't be fair to the other players who didn't make a boneheaded mistake to have the opening of SEC media day's for the defending SEC champions to be all about Marshall's citation.

This is the first mistake Nick Marshall has made since coming to Auburn and for his sake I hope it's his last as he has really blossomed under Malzhan and Lashlee. We can debate the marijuana issue all day but one thing is understood, it is not legal in the southern part of the U.S. so it is not smart to have it in your possession.
