SEC media days: a lot has changed in 1 year..

Posted on July 15 2014 by @whoke10 in SEC media days

As the Auburn contingent strolled through SEC media days early Monday one thing was evident, a lot has changed in one year.

As we watched head coach Gus Malzhan and the three players representing Auburn go through interview after interview the main thing that popped out was the confidence they all had in themselves and the Auburn program under Gus Malzhan. All Gus and his players had last year at the event was, hope, which was all the new staff had to sell a team coming off of the worst season in the programs modern history.

This year you have coach Malzhan, the first coach to win the SEC in year one getting on stage with a considerable amount of clout and plenty of respect from the media, it seems a lot more than Gene Chizik recieved after winning the 2010 BCS title. This year we saw three excited confident seniors who fully expect Auburn to be among the first four teams to make the college football playoff, not three deeply wounded players looking for change.

It seems that Malzhan and his staff have laid a quick but solid foundation in this Auburn program. But the exciting thing to see is it doesn't seem to have hit it's ceiling quite yet, there is room to improve and the staff are bringing in top flight talent to fill those holes and when they do the rest of college football will be on notice. We saw what Malzhan could do with a strong roster, just think what he and his staff can do with a loaded roster, BOOM.
